Keys Handed off to Ocean Springs

The keys to the Taconi School building in Ocean Springs now officially rest in the hands of the city.
The building inches into new ownership after Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran was handed the keys this morning. The building currently supplies rooms for children’s head start, Excel by 5 and the YMCA after school program and will continue to do so.
Mayor Moran tells News 25 the city mostly wanted the building for its gym. With plans to expand Ocean Springs Parks and Recreation Department activities, the city has a lot of work to do on the building. “Sinks, general receptacles need to be replaced, lights need to be replaced. That’s what we’ll do first. A good cleaning, a good landscaping and we’ll get the building in shape and we’re very proud to have it,” said Mayor Moran.
The city has already installed a brand new floor in the gym but that’s just one building block in the many improvements yet to come.
