Kenny Holloway wins Ocean Springs mayoral runoff election

The City of Discovery will have a new mayor come July.

Kenny Holloway has been declared the winner in the Ocean Springs Republican Mayoral Runoff.

It was a tight race with Holloway receiving 52 percent of the runoff votes, defeating Melanie Allen, who garnered 48 percent.

At his victory party last night, Holloway was joined by supporters and even current Mayor Shea Dobson and former mayoral candidate Chic Cody.

Holloway says he’ll dedicate the next few months to a smooth mayoral transition. “We’re going to work with the current administration. We’re going to create a transition plan and program and talk with the aldermen.”

Elsewhere in Ocean Springs, Kevin Wade was announced as the winner of the Ward 3 GOP Runoff for aldermen, getting 56 percent of the vote compared to Doug Walker’s 44 percent.
