Kemper County Power Plant Delay

The Kemper County Power Plant will take a couple more weeks to open and will cost an additional $35 million.
Today Mississippi Power officials announced the expected in-service date has now been extended to mid-march due to issues with the ash removal system in one of the gasifiers.
The plant was supposed to be operational using lignite by January 31.
Mississippi power officials also said today the company has completed the update of the economic viability analysis of the project and it shows that a reduction in projected long-term natural gas prices
The total cost of the facility now tops $7 billion.
