Kemper County Plant Price Increase

The cost of Mississippi Power’s Kemper County plant continues to rise. Officials released they will spend an addition $61 million.
The Atlanta based Southern Company will absorb 35 million of the added cost. However, the remaining $26 million burden could fall on the shoulders of the customers. A rate hike would need to be approved by the Mississippi Public Service Commission.
This added price increase pushes the total cost of the Kemper County plant above $6.7 billion.
