Keesler Medical Center to Begin Big Upgrades

Keesler Medical Center is about to begins its $74 million transformation.

Parts of the 1950s building will be gutted to become a more open and upgraded facility, all while maintaining and expanding its patient load by partnering with local hospitals. The three phase project is geared towards grouping similar services together, making it easier for patients to receive care.

Commander Thomas Herrall of Keesler Medical Center says, “One of the renovations that we’re doing is a hybrid O.R., and the purpose of that is to take one of our functional O.R.s and change it in such a way that it will increase our ability to do vascular procedures, not only with the vascular surgeons that we have here, but also our interventional cardiologist and at Keesler Medical Center, as you probably know, it’s a deployment platform, so everything we do here in terms of partnering is geared towards maintaining our currency and competency.”

The first phase of renovations will be complete in 2017.
