Keesler Federal Credit Union providing school supplies with ‘Backpacks for Bright Futures’ event

Keesler Federal Credit Union is making sure kindergartners on the Gulf Coast are fully prepared for the first day of school through an initiative called Backpacks for Bright Futures.

For the third year, Keesler Federal Credit Union is providing backpacks and school supplies to more than 6,100 kindergarteners in 16 school districts across the six coastal counties.

Keesler employees volunteered their time loading school buses, trucks, and vans from each school with all the tools the students need to succeed. Board of Directors Chairman Jim Hollingsworth said, “This is something we look forward to every year. We’ve done this three years now. So far, we’ve given about 20,000 of those backpacks to the community. It’s an exciting event for our employees who volunteer to be able to do this. The schools love it. The teachers appreciate it and the students, you should see their eyes light up.”

The backpacks will be distributed by schools at a later date.
