Keesler Federal Credit Union meets with Bright Futures Program recipients

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Today marked the first day of school for the Harrison County School District and thanks to a generous donation, many kindergarteners are kicking off the school year with supplies they need.

It’s year seven of Keesler Federal Credit Union’s Bright Futures Program and that means free school supplies for every kindergartner in the Harrison County School District.

This morning, students at Lyman Elementary School got to meet the people behind the donation.

Keesler Federal executives visited the campus to see the kids put their supplies to use and were met with smiles and a lot of gratitude from both students and faculty. Principal Erin Cates said, “It means everything to have a partnership with community members and for them to show to kids the importance of education and that they value their education. Also, for the parents to help them to be able to get everything ready with school clothes, lunch boxes, all of the things to have one less thing on their plate and to insure they get it ahead of time to prepare their rooms and be ready to go for the first time, first day.”

The Bright Futures Program is a part of Keesler’s commitment to supporting education across the Coast.
