Keesler Federal Credit Union awards local teacher with Educators Impact Award
A local teacher had the ultimate surprise on National Teacher Appreciation Day!
Keesler Federal Credit Union gives out 24 Educators Impact Awards across three states. After reviewing video submissions, four teachers from Harrison County schools were selected including Brenden Phillips.
Phillips is the robotics teacher at West Harrison Middle School and he says he is living his dream each day. Each Educators Impact recipient receives $2,500 for personal use and $1,000 for their school.
Without a second thought, Phillips says all the money given will go towards the robotics program. “Massive thanks to Keesler Federal Credit Union. It’s going to make an immediate impact in the lives of our students and what we get to do here every day, and everything that we can put back into this to continue to grow what we do here makes a huge difference.”
Keesler Federal Community Development Officer Anthony Abella said, “Seeing the impact that they have on the students and seeing their eyes light up of what they might be using the funds for is really gratifying. With Keesler Federal, we certainly do a lot for the community and giving back to the community in the form of things for teachers to give back is certainly very heartwarming.”
The students in the robotics class were very proud of their teacher for winning this honor.
