Keesler Air Force Base offering new way of picking up prescriptions

Keesler Air Force Base has a new way of picking up prescriptions with the new ScriptCenter kiosk which allows prescriptions to be filled and picked up at much more convenient times.

Active duty, military retirees, and their family can now get their prescriptions without having to come in contact with anyone.

The new ScriptCenter is a state-of-the-art service kiosk with lockers to hold prescription refills. Satellite Pharmacy Element Chief Captain Asia Sanders says this new technology extends refill prescription pickup availability by 28 hours per week. “During these times, of course the safety of our patients is of the utmost importance. This also increases the number of hours our patients can pick up so it just gives this more options and more access to health care.”

The kiosk is like a vending machine. There are lockers located within the kiosk as well as outside. The lockers on the outside of the machine will light up, letting the patient know when they can grab the prescription. ‘It uses a two-step verification process using bar-code technology. Using the patients military ID and a pin number, they are able to pick up refills as long as they are not controlled, refrigerated, or too bulky.”

All you have to do is order your prescription online, select ScriptCenter Kiosk as your location, come to the food center, and pick up your prescription. “When they call 228-376-1000, which is an automated refill line, or when they go on Tricare online, they can choose either BX Scriptcenter as the option for pickup or drive-thru pharmacy and its completely up to the patient what they choose at that time.”

So far, over 2,600 patients have registered and over 7,000 prescriptions have gone into the machines. “We are expanding and adding more lockers so more patients can come out and use them.”

The ScriptCenter Kiosk is open seven days a week.
