Keeping up with dental care after Halloween

Now that Halloween is out of the way, it is important parents making sure the little ones are still taking care of their teeth despite having a large amount of candy at their disposable.

This is one of the busiest times of the year for dentists with sweets and spooky goodies playing a huge role in the increase of appointments.

Now kids may not want to hear this, but children should try their best to stay away from sticky candy as it can cause cavities, pull off crowns, and even crack teeth. South MS Smiles Community Relations Specialist Jennifer Dutchover said, “Candy is probably the number one reason why kids get cavities. So, definitely if you can give it away, I know the military has some buy backs. Try to limit the candy to one piece.”

Now, folks at the dentist office still want the kids to enjoy their Halloween treats, just be sure to brush and floss afterwards.
