Kaiden’s Candles of Hope provides birthday cakes for children in foster care

Gulf Coast teenager Kaiden McGill has left a legacy far bigger than he likely could have ever imagined.

It started when his mother, Rachel McGill, visited Quality Bakery in Gulfport to order a cake in honor of her late son’s 18th birthday. McGill told bakery owner Danielle White that she wanted to help other families and children in need.

The next day, CASA of South Mississippi stopped in Quality Bakery’s Wiggins location and asked about purchasing birthday cakes for children in the foster care system. White knew that she and McGill wanted to help out however they could.

McGill, White, members of CASA and others have since teamed up to create Kaiden’s Candles of Hope to provide birthday cakes to more than 300 children in Harrison and Stone Counties.

Donations have begun pouring in to Quality Bakery to help cover the cost of these cakes.

Here’s more on Kaiden’s inspiring legacy and how many groups across the Coast are teaming up to change the lives of hundreds of children.
