Juvenile treated and released after being struck in officer-involved collision with Bay St. Louis officer

Police Checkpoints This Weekend In Bay St. Louis

On August 28, 2024, at approximately 12:51 a.m., Waveland Police Department and Hancock County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Bay St. Louis Police Department with an Officer involved collision.

A Bay St. Louis Police Officer was conducting a routine patrol area check of the Washington Street Pier parking lot when the accident occurred.

Review of the accident determined the Officer was making a left turn in the unlit area and not able to see two individuals lying on the asphalt.

The couple, identified as 18-year-old Presten Bowers, of Saucier, MS, and a 16-year-old juvenile female, reportedly watching the sky and stars.

Officers reported Bowers and the juvenile female drove to the area with other individuals, who remained in a vehicle at the time of the collision.

The juvenile female was transported, via ambulance, to Gulfport Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries to her hips and legs, and Bowers was transported, via private vehicle, for minor injuries. The officer did not sustain any injuries.

Both individuals were treated and released.

The official report and investigation were assigned to the Waveland Police Department.
