Justin Steele feeling love from Lucedale as first-time MLB All-Star

In less than 24 hours, George County alum Justin Steele will be taking part in his first-ever MLB All-Star Game as a pitcher for the Chicago Cubs.

The Pride of Lucedale heads into All-Star Weekend with the league’s fourth-best ERA and that mark of 2.56, good for second best in the National League.

In the Wednesday night game against the Brewers, Steele posting his 11th quality start of the year in what turned out to be a 4-3 comeback win over the Brewers which he calls his favorite win of the season.

Right after that three-run ninth inning rally, Steele discusses his support system back in Mississippi and he sends all the love right back to the Coast. “It’s been awesome. The amount of support I’m getting from back home has been tremendous. My heart is always there, and it just means the world to me. I’m really speechless. I know they’re proud. I know they’re watching all the time, and it just means the world to me and my heart is always there. Kind of seemed like we weren’t done. I feel like that was just a good team win, man. Those are the kind of wins, like I think that might’ve been my favorite win of this season. That was awesome.”
