‘Fill the Bus’ has officially kicked off. The Junior Auxiliary of Gulfport has partnered with United Way of South Mississippi in the annual school supply drive to collect supplies for children in the Gulfport, Long Beach, Pass Christian, and Harrison County schools.

People can drop off supplies in collection bins at the Gulfport Highway 49 Walmart Supercenter starting today through August 8th and Walmart Pass Christian July 18th through August 8th.

Other participating drop-off locations include:

  • Studio E
  • The Dermatology Clinic
  • The Floor Trader Gulf Coast
  • Boozer’s Brew and a Café too, LLC
  • Lemon Mohler Insurance Agency
  • Gulfport Century 21
  • Carter and Company
  • Reform by Christina Pike
  • Gulfport Yacht Club

Donations can also be dropped off at participating Walmarts in Hancock, Stone, and Pearl River counties. United Way CEO Kathy Springer said, “When those school supplies are gathered, let’s say in Wiggins, they stay in Wiggins. If they’re gathered in Picayune, they stay in that school district. We like to keep those local so wherever those school supplies are gathered, that’s where they stay so they stay local.”

The last day for donations will be Monday, August 8th. Donations can also be made at the Knight Nonprofit Center on Seaway Road in Gulfport.
