July Fourth holiday travel period begins

The Mississippi Highway Patrol’s July Fourth holiday travel period started Thursday morning.

There will be an increased presence of state troopers on busy South Mississippi roads to deter speeding along with impaired and distracted driving.

MHP will also enforce checkpoints in certain areas.

This travel period wraps up on Sunday at midnight.
