Judge Thomas Wicker dies at 98
Mississippi Senator Roger Wicker announced the passing of his father, Judge Thomas Wicker.
Thomas was 98-years-old and died this morning at a hospital in Memphis. He was born in 1924 in Hickory Flat in Benton County.
Wicker had a long and distinguished career in public service, serving as city attorney and county prosecutor for 12 years, state senate for three years, and was appointed by Governor John Williams as circuit judge for the 1st Judicial District in 1970.
He retired from his judicial position in 1990, still carrying on his public service after retirement.
Senator Wicker issued the following statement on his father’s passing. He said his father was a role model for many and that the Wicker family is devastated to lose him. Despite the loss, he said his family is grateful for a life well-lived and for the wisdom he gave to all of them.
