Judge rules Alan Moran violated probation

A judge ruled that Alan Moran violated his probation when he was arrested on a misdemeanor stalking charge and sent him back to jail.

The court appearance on Thursday afternoon was to determine whether Moran violated the terms of his probation.

The former Diamondhead city councilman was sentenced in February after being convicted of exploitation and solicitation of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

He was sentenced to 15 years on the first charge and six months on the second. The first charge was suspended and he was given 5 years probation. The second charge was reduced to 30 days in county jail. He also had to register as a sex offender and delete all social media.

With Judge Christopher Schmidt’s ruling, Moran could have to serve the 15-year sentence. He was returned to county jail on Thursday after the hearing.
