Judge Recuses Himself on Some SRHS Cases

Judge Breland Hilburn will not preside over the state cases being handled by plaintiffs’ and retirees’ attorneys Harvey Barton and Earl Denham.
According to today’s filing with the Jackson County Chancery Court’s Office signed by Judge Breland: “After due consideration, it is the finding of the court that there is now a question as to whether the court can maintain impartiality in presiding over the above styled cases.”
While Judge Hilburn will not be hearing the 200 plus cases handled by Barton and Denham, he is still set to hear the cases of the other retirees represented by attorneys Reeves and Mestayer, who tell News 25 this will in no way affect the proposed class action settlement.
