Judge Hilburn Responds

The Mississippi Supreme Court, in an order filed Tuesday, called for responses to a motion for emergency omnibus relief in the case of Cynthia N. Almond v. Singing River Health System Employee’s Retirement Plan and Trust.
The Supreme Court called for responses from six attorneys, the Singing River Health System trustees, the special master and the special judge. Responses are due next Tuesday.
Special Judge L. Breland Hilburn has replied to the motion: “I have considered whether my visit to the special master’s office gives an appearance of impropriety. I do not see that is does but then it is not my decision. I hope that I have adequately provided you with the information you seek. If not, I will amplify any response at your request. I am certainly prepared to offer you my resignation upon your order or request. It will be, to my memory, a first.”
