Jubilee Havens holding events to raise awareness for human trafficking victims

Providing a safe haven for victims of human trafficking is Jubilee Haven’s mission here on the Coast.

They’re hoping you can help through a series of upcoming events. First on Saturday there will be a volunteer training program at the Margaret S. Sherry Memorial Library in Biloxi. This training is required for any volunteer interested in serving at the Whistle Stop, which is a short-term home for women rescued from trafficking and awaiting placement in a long-term facility.

Next Wednesday, August 31st, Jubilee Havens is partnering with Pop’s Pizzeria to raise money to help rescue victims of human trafficking.

All orders that day will benefit the organization. Leslie Ramon with Jubilee Havens said, “When people are trafficked, they lose all sense of hope. So, we give them back that sense of hope, giving them a temporary spot until they can find a more long-term place to go. It takes about $10,000 to run that. So, we need all the help that we can get.”

On Saturday, September 17th, Jubilee Havens will host a ‘Stop the Traffick’ walk at D’Iberville Town Green. Tickets are $25.
