Jrue Holiday signs with Pelicans

Yesterday, Jrue Holiday re-signed with the New Orleans Pelicans to the tune of five years $126 million. What the Pelicans are left with now are the makings of a big three starting at point guard.
General Manager Dell Demps says Holiday was the number one priority during free agency and he got paid like it. His new contract could be worth up to $150 million with incentives, giving him every reason to build a future in the Big Easy. That future already includes four time NBA all-star Anthony Davis and at least one more season with star big man DeMarcus Cousins.
Holiday says he’s already started recruiting Cousins to re-sign next off season, returning the favor from the treatment his teammates gave him. “I can’t get into a couple specifics because they might have even been threats, but whatever. But, it’s pretty much we want you back. They were saying that they couldn’t do this without me and that I was obviously part of their family and a big piece to the puzzle. So, when you’re wanted that makes you feel good,” said Holiday.
“We feel that we have a core that we can build with. We also know it’s going to be an uphill battle. We know we have a lot of work to do and it’s a competitive league right now. People are raising the bar like I’ve never seen before, but we’re embracing the challenge,” said Demps.
Holiday was only appeared in 63 percent of his games during his four seasons with the Pelicans, but he averaged more than 15 points per game when he was on the court last season.
