John C. Stennis Space Center Director’s Briefing: 2020 in Review
The ninth annual John C. Stennis Space Center Director’s Briefing was held this morning. For the first time, the meeting was held virtually due to COVID-19.
During the briefing, over 100 business and industry leaders from Mississippi and Louisiana heard a yearly report directly from key leadership with Stennis Space Center, the U.S. Navy, and the Michoud Assembly Facility.
The briefing focused on recent successes to come out of Stennis and Michoud despite a year plagued with challenges.
Five different leaders spoke on the year in review while looking to the future and shooting for the moon with the support of the Biden Administration. Michoud Assembly Facility Director Robert Champion said, “To be able to look to the nation as the leader in space is a very important thing and I think that is just restated and reaffirmed by the Biden Administration and their immediate support. They have already mentioned us a couple of times in press conferences.”
Also on the agenda was the celebration of both Stennis’ and Michoud 60th anniversaries later this year.
