Joey Wiemer added to All-Star Futures Game, Shuckers lose 5th straight
Biloxi Shuckers outfielder Joey Wiemer has been added to the National League roster for the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game.
Wiemer is among the Southern League leaders in several categories currently tied for third with 15 home runs despite going homerless since June 22nd.
His batting average has actually dropped 40 points over the last month, but the talent is undeniable, ranking in the top 10 in the league in runs, hits, doubles, homers, RBI, and stolen bases.
Wiemer is the third-ranked prospect of the Milwaukee Brewers and is the eighth Shuckers player to ever play in the futures games.
Up in Tennessee, Shuckers taking on the Smokies in game three.
Shuckers dropping their third in a row to start the series, fifth straight overall. Smokies win 7-3.
Former Shucker Trent Grisham giving himself a good reason to say ‘Shuck Yeah’ this afternoon, evaporating a 444-foot solo home run for the San Diego Padres in an 8-5 loss to the Colorado Rockies.
Win or lose that had to feel good for Grisham, who’s finally starting to get his power stroke back, having now homered eight times since May 29th after hitting just one in his first 44 games of the season, but still battling less than his weight at .192.
