Joey St. Amant honored at Biloxi High School

Biloxi High School recognized one of its own Friday night prior to the team’s football game against Pearl.

Joey St. Amant was diagnosed with ALS about six months ago and it was an emotional pre-game scene for the Big Red family.

Both Biloxi and Pearl raised money in support of the one they call Elmo. The field and stands were filled with blue shirts with #putusincoach.

With the $40,000 raised by Biloxi and the additional $4,000 raised by Pearl, Elmo will now have a handicap van to help his family and friends get him to his doctor appointments and wherever else he needs to go. “It’s surreal. It’s unbelievable. But it’s a testament to how much people can love one another and how you treat one another and I’m awfully grateful and thankful and very humbled by all of the giveness people have done and helped me and praying for me. My little slogan is ‘God has a plan,’ and he surely does. And this is a great testament to that.”
