Job Corps College and Career Fair in Gulfport

The Gulfport Job Corps hosted its annual college and career job fair.

Local businesses, community partners, and military branches take part in the yearly event. The purpose of the job fair is to introduce the student body to members of the workforce in a one-on-one setting and to expose them to the various opportunities that are out there.

Going through this process gives the students far more than just a chance for employment. Denise Wallace with the South Mississippi Regional Center said, “Job Corp, what they do is set the student up to show them what it is like in the real world. You come in and you may not get the job, but you get the experience, learning how to do the application, how to have that interview, and just meeting people like us here.”

Recent Job Corps Center Graduate Christian Young said, “Job Corps is very helpful. Once you finish the program, they stay in contact with you for a year. They were grateful enough to bring these lovely people out from all over.”

Recent Job Corps Center Graduate Brittany Gosha said, “It’s so many opportunities out here. It’s so many things that we can do and so many places that we can see and so many people that are willing to help us.”

If you’re interested in the program, stop by the Gulfport Job Corps Center on 20th Street to see everything they have to offer.
