JJ Spa Shut Down Following Arrests

JJ Spa in St. Martin is now officially shut down after a raid on Wednesday led to the arrest of two people for prostitution and human trafficking.
According to a federal indictment, manager Yeon Sook Hwang transported individuals across state lines with the intent for those individuals to engage in prostitution at JJ. The spa has been declared a public nuisance and a temporary restraining order has been issued, closing the business until a hearing is conducted on November 30th.
Authorities expect to make more arrests as the investigation continues. Jackson County District Attorney Tony Lawrence said, “We will not allow this kind of activity to occur in Jackson County. This is more than just a prostitution ring, this is organized criminal activity. This is indentured servitude. This is the enslavement of people and it’s just wrong.”
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell said, “As always, if you see something that doesn’t look right, call us. Let us get knowledge of it, investigate it.”
Authorities say they hope this investigation sends a message to other businesses that these crimes will not be tolerated.
