Jeepers attend third annual Blessing of the Jeeps fundraiser in Long Beach

Close to 300 Jeeps made their way to Long Beach this weekend for prayer as they get ready for the Jeeping season.

Jeep owners from Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Florida gathered at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church for the third annual Blessing of the Jeeps fundraising event.

The blessing takes place each year in April with a prayer led by the priest to ensure a safe riding season for the Jeep community.

After the prayer, Jeeps lined up two by two as the priest blessed the Jeep with Holy Water.

For the Hattiesburg Hub City Jeepers Club, it was the group’s first time attending the event. Hattiesburg Hub City Jeepers Treasurer Tunjia Felts said, “It’s just an honor to get together with other Jeepers and to see and come out and get our Jeeps blessed before the summer starts and taking the time to see and fellowship of other Jeepers.”

Blessing of the Jeeps is a nonprofit organization and proceeds from the fundraiser will be split evenly between Batman LBMS Animal Rescue and St. Thomas Teen Life Youth Group.
