Jazzy J’s gives out free plates in D’Iberville
One local eatery continues the Coast trend of getting free food to community members in need.
Collard greens, mac and cheese, fried chicken are just a few of the free offerings at Jazzy J’s Bistro today. The owners decided to give back to the community that keeps the bistro going after it opened eight months ago.
Over Thanksgiving, the pair gave away 200 dinner plates, even sticking around after hours to get food to those getting off work.
Normally, serving a healthy mix of Cajun and classic Americana, the free food served today was a homemade holiday helping. Jazzy J Co-Owner Andrew Grayer said, “I know where I come from and it is hard for parents, and these days it’s a lot of single parents, either a single father or a single mother. It’s more single mothers than anything. So, I know that trying to balance the dollar is hard right now.”
Jazzy J’s is next to Reno’s on Rodriguez Street and is usually open through the night.
