Jamie Collins to sign with Detroit Lions; Southern Miss alum not going to Saints

One of the Saints’ top free agent targets is reportedly going in another direction with Southern Miss alum Jamie Collins set to sign with the Detroit Lions.

This is the second time Collins will be leaving New England, but will be in good company with Head Coach Matt Patricia, the defensive coordinator during Collins’ first run with the Patriots.

The former Golden Eagle is slated to make $30 million over three years with $18 million of that guaranteed, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

And what a wacky day all around the NFL, as we take a look at some of the other headlines from this crazy Tuesday.

Starting with former Los Angeles Chargers Quarterback Phillip Rivers, heading to Indianapolis on a one-year deal.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are cutting ties with safety Malcolm Jenkins, as the former Saint now gears up for free agency.

As a result of the Teddy Bridgewater signing, the Panthers will allow Cam Newton to seek a trade to a new team.

The Cowboys keep finding more money, re-signing Amari Cooper to a five-year 100-million dollar extension.

And another former Saint Jimmy Graham, staying in the NFC North, from the Packers to the Bears for 16-million over two years.
