Jameis Winston plans to start for Saints vs. Vikings
New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston didn’t practice Wednesday, listed on the injury report with a back and ankle.
He was expected to practice today, but he didn’t.
Andy Dalton ran the first team offense for the second day in a row with Taysom Hill running with the second unit.
Offensive Coordinator Pete Carmichael declined to elaborate on Winston’s status for Sunday, but insisted there’s a plan in place no matter what.
The Black and Gold offense has been a major concern three games into the 2022 season. Ranking second-to-last in first half scoring, but ranking first in fourth quarter scoring.
Here’s Winston from across the pond on his week four recovery process. “It’s a lot of different things. I mean I’m rehabbing my hip flexors, my ankles, my back, my entire body. It’s a wholistic process, and a lot of people want to – they rehab. They want to get their body right. So, I’m doing everything possible to be the best that I can be. I think we’ve just got to keep on chopping wood and carrying water. I think we’re doing some good things. I know we have a good plan. I know our guys are giving it all they’ve got, but things are going to start falling our way.”
The Saints take on the Vikings from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium at 8:30 a.m. central time, 2:30 p.m. local time on Sunday.
