Jacob Latch’s family receives Christmas surprise

In October, Pascagoula Fire Captain Jacob Latch lost his battle with a rare form of cancer known as EHE and he left behind a wife and three children.

In an effort to relieve some financial strain and bring some holiday cheer, the Tunnel to Towers Biloxi Squad surprised the Latch family with a visit from Santa, presents, and a check for more than $64,000.

The money was raised by the squad and the entire community through GoFundMe following Latch’s passing.

Pascagoula Fire Department, Biloxi Fire Department, friends, and family were all present for the heartwarming moment. Biloxi Firefighter/Tunnel to Towers Biloxi Co-Director Justin Lopez said “Another shoutout to our community because without their support we could never do this. Everybody gives just a little bit, turns into something big. And this was pretty good money for this family. We’re still trying to get some more for them and help them with the house and college. You know with three kids for college, that’s pretty expensive.”

A golf cart is also being raffled off in January to help the Latch family. To purchase tickets and see the golf cart check out the Tunnel to Towers Biloxi Facebook page.
