This morning, one hard working volunteer at the Humane Society of South Mississippi was rewarded for his dedication to the pets he loves and cares for.
Jacob Himes, a hero to his mom, a hero to the pets he loves and cares for at the Humane Society of South Mississippi, and now an award winning hero through the Petco Foundation.
The Petco Foundation’s ‘Unsung Heroes’ campaign honors individuals doing extraordinary work and who are dedicated to saving animals in their community. Amanda Bianchini, Jacob’s mother, said, “He’s usually the first volunteer in the building in the morning. I drop him off every morning at 8 and he either catches the bus home or his grandmother picks him up, but he is very dedicated to the animals here and the work here.”
There was nothing but happy tears and cheers as internationally renowned dog trainer Victoria Stilwell surprised Jacob with a $10,000 grant for the Humane Society of South Mississippi in his honor. “I honestly can’t say enough. He has taught me a lot. He has taught me more than I have ever taught him.”
