Jackson and George County Regional Library System to reopen
Residents of Jackson and George counties will soon be able to visit their local libraries once again.
Beginning on Monday, March 1st, branches in the Jackson-George Regional Library System will reopen at 50 percent capacity after previously only allowing by-appointment and curbside services.
Masks and social distancing will be required at all locations and returned books will continue to be cleaned and quarantined before being put back on shelves.
Library Director Lori Barnes tells News 25 a few factors played into the decision to reopen and that they hope to increase to 75 percent capacity in a few weeks. “Having the vaccine available was also another deciding factor, as I said the reduction in cases, so that was one thing that led to making this decision to reopen.”
The library system will continue to offer services such as virtual programming on Facebook as well as library by mail and contactless check out after reopening.
