Jackson County Sheriff’s Office remembers fallen Deputy Michael Jimerson
JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Michael Jimerson was committed to his community.
WXXV News 25’s Brynne Baxley spoke with the sheriff about his lasting impact.
Deputy Jimerson was killed in the line of duty responding to a domestic disturbance in St. Martin on Wednesday night.
Investigators say Deputy Jimerson responded to a call at the Reserve at Gulf Hill Apartments in St. Martin around 11 Wednesday night, when a short foot chase with a woman there led to a shooting.
The woman has been identified as 27-year-old Maley Ross. She died at the scene.
Deputy Jimerson later died at Ocean Springs Hospital.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is now taking the lead in this case.
