Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy killed in car accident

According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, a Jackson County sheriff’s deputy was killed in an early morning accident north of the Stone County-Harrison County line.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the deputy as 45-year-old Joshua Brashears.

At approximately 5:25 a.m., Deputy Brashears was involved in a single vehicle accident on Highway 15 near the Harrison – Stone County line.

Emergency responders arrived on scene and Deputy Brashears was transported to Biloxi Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

In a statement released by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, they said “Deputy Brashears faithfully served the residents of Jackson County since joining the Sheriff’s Office in 2023. He was assigned to the Patrol Division where he was respected by his peers and the community for his professionalism, dedication, and compassion. Deputy Brashears was a valued member of our law enforcement family and a friend to many. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss and extend our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers to his family. His commitment to serving and protecting Jackson County will never be forgotten.”
