Jackson County redevelopment on Cook Road
Jackson County lawmakers are taking a new path to help recreate some of the Promenade and shopping areas in D’Iberville.
The county is spending $21 million to relocate and widen Cook Road between D’Iberville’s city limits and Washington Avenue, north of Ocean Springs.
With the addition of new tax incentives, Jackson County is hoping that more big-box retailers will be drawn to the city.
The state legislature also granted the county the right to 18.5 percent of sales taxes collected from businesses on the new road.
