Jackson County mayoral trip to the White House

Jackson County is home to two of the youngest mayors in the state of Mississippi, but that isn’t stopping them from being heard on a national level. News 25’s Tanner Stewart has more on their upcoming trip to the nation’s capital.
Infrastructure, economic development, and education: just a few things on the minds of two Jackson County mayors before they head to Washington to speak with federal lawmakers and spread the word about South Mississippi. Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson said, “Basically just you know, help strengthen relationships, see how they can help us, what they can use from us and just use that relationship for team building.”
Mayor Shea Dobson is just one of four mayors in Jackson County who wants to emphasize how important it is to continue growth in the community. Moss Point Mayor Mario King said, “I would like to increase money in infrastructure so we can have a better business and community impact. I think people would take pride and morale would come up if we boost our infrastructure and I think that’s the way to get it.”
For Mayor Mario King, it means more than representing the people of Moss Point, but also, his hometown. “We are a community that works hard, that really wants to show off our hard work and resources.”
These are just two of the many Jackson County officials heading to the nation’s capital over the weekend, but their voices speak for the entire Coast. “I think when Ocean Springs does well, I think that Jackson County does well, and I think the whole Coast does well, and I think the whole state of Mississippi does well,” said Mayor Dobson.
