Jackson County jury finds man guilty of first-degree murder

After a four-day trial, a Jackson County jury found Deshaude Jones guilty of first-degree murder and of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Jones is originally from Illinois. During the trial, the state presented evidence that Jones murdered an unarmed man by shooting him in the back.

The Ocean Springs Police Department investigated the case.

A judge sentenced Jones to life in prison in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections without the possibility of parole.
