Jackson County Fair Begins

Today’s wet weather wasn’t enough to keep people away from the start of the 95th annual Jackson County Fair.
The week-long attraction is in full swing, expecting to draw in tens of thousands of guests. The fair offers fun for people of all ages with swings, carnival games, fun houses and more.
Organizers say the Jackson County Fair is unlike any other because of the local churches and vendors who serve food. The fair is truly a community event. Rides are provided by a local company and Jackson County residents run the day-to-day operations.
Fair Association President Eddie Russell said, “Well the Chaos is a new ride here. It’s only two in the United States and we have one of them. That’s a big thing. We have some other rides that are new. These rides are like six or seven hundred thousand dollars a ride. We have more new ones than we have ever had before.”
The gates open at 4 p.m. nightly. The fair will run until Sunday, October 23rd.
