Jackson County Expo highlights innovation, industry, and community connections

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (WXXV) –Local businesses, big industry, and community partners all came together on Tuesday to showcase what makes Jackson County thrive.

Hundreds gathered at the Jackson County Civic Center this week for the 2025 Jackson County Industry and Business Expo — a celebration of local innovation, industry, and community connections along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

The annual event brought together a wide range of participants, from healthcare providers and hotels to nonprofit organizations and major industrial companies. Visitors had the chance to network, learn about new services, and walk away with plenty of free swag — including yo-yos, promotional gear, and even a chance to win a free hotel stay.

Flora Monique Blake, Director of Sales at the Hilton Garden Inn, said the expo is always a highlight for local businesses. “We’re celebrating the Jackson County Trade Exhibit… we are also giving away a free night stay at the Hilton,” Blake said. “We love it — we do it every year.”

Singing River Health System drew a crowd with demonstrations of life-saving medical technology. Timothy Neese, Director of Cardiovascular Services, emphasized that patients don’t need to travel far for advanced care. “People in the Gulf Coast know if your technology is available, you don’t have to go outside of South Mississippi, Jackson County to get advanced healthcare. You can get it right here at Singing River Health System.”

Among the tech on display was a Medtronic structural heart valve used to treat aortic stenosis without the need for open-heart surgery, along with the Impella heart pump — a device used to support patients recovering from cardiac events. “We can replace those heart valves without open heart surgery and send patients home the very next morning,” Neese added.

The event wasn’t just for businesses — it was a chance for community organizations to connect with the public and promote upcoming events. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Jackson County took part to raise awareness and support. “Today we are showcasing what Boys and Girls Clubs of Jackson County offers the community,” said Yvette Vogel, Director of Resource Development and Marketing. “We’re also sharing details about our Steak & Steak Dinner and silent auction.”

Industrial Valve, representing the Chevron Refinery in Pascagoula, brought a lighter touch with a nostalgic giveaway that proved to be one of the day’s biggest hits. “Our hottest item today has been these yo-yos,” said site manager Zac Culbertson. “I like to think we’re bringing yo-yos back.”

The 2025 expo highlighted the strength and diversity of Jackson County’s business community — and reminded visitors that whether it’s world-class healthcare, career opportunities, or community support, there’s a lot to discover right here on the Coast.
