Jackson County deputies end standoff in Vancleave

A man is now is custody after Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were in a standoff in Vancleave for almost five hours.

The standoff ended peacefully and without incident.

42-year-old James English has been charged with aggravated domestic assault against his wife, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff John Ledbetter said a call came in about 7:30 a.m. about a domestic incident on Ridgeland Road. Ledbetter said there is a history of calls from that residence and there is “a propensity for it to get worse.”

The other parties at the house were able to leave and call 911, but a man barricaded himself in the home.

Deputies are trying to make contact with the man. Ledbetter said the only crime at this time is domestic related.

No shots have been fired and Jackson County is the only agency involved.
