Jackson County Child Abuse Case Sent to Grand Jury
A grand jury will soon hear evidence in the child abuse case of three-year-old Zander Saucier.
Zander’s father, Nathan McCrory, appeared at his preliminary hearing this morning. He’s accused of severely beating his son. Investigators took the stand and answered questions related to the 30 injuries Zander sustained. They included severe bruising, cigarette and lighter burns, swollen eyes and lips and the current liver problems the three-year-old is dealing with.
McCrory’s attorney argued the injuries came from Zander falling down stairs and a bike accident. But Eddie Clark, who is investigating the case, testified Zander was examined by a child abuse expert who reported the injuries did not match up with a boy falling down the stairs.
Zander’s mother, Emily, tells News 25 today was another step in the process and “we trust the justice system will see the truth.”
