Jackson County Animal Shelter adoption event

Over the weekend, the Jackson County Animal Shelter hosted their annual ‘New Year’s Resolution Adoption Event.’

The fourth annual adoption event took place at Kwitzky’s Dugout in downtown Ocean Springs. The event showcased many of the animals available for adoption. Both cats and dogs were available and some puppies, too.

Maridee Mallette with the Jackson County Animal Shelter reiterates the importance of adopting sheltered animals, especially after the holidays. “We had a lot of adoptions during Christmas and it emptied out a lot of our shelter. We’re filling it back up now. Everyone is back in school. It slowed down a lot. We’ve seen a lot of influx this week.”
