iPod donation for perfect attendance at Gulfport School District

Harrah’s Gulf Coast has partnered with United Way to reward some students in the Gulfport School District.

The donation included 15 iPod Nanos and 30 iTunes gift cards. These music gadgets will be given to students at both schools in the district with perfect attendance. Each winner will receive one of the iPods and two gift cards.

The attendance campaign for these iPods will begin in January. The schools hope this will be an incentive to help students not miss class. Jonathan Dill with Bayou View Middle School said, “If you’re there at school every day your academics are going to improve, but when you miss four or five days out of a school year, you don’t think it’s a whole lot, but when you start missing a week at a time that becomes very important for academics at school. So, this is a very important and very gracious gift to our school.”

This attendance campaign will begin in January and the winners will be announced at the end of the school year.
