Investigation Continues in Shooting of Vancleave Teen
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate several leads following a Sunday shooting of a 17-year-old in Vancleave.
Upon arriving on the scene on Carter Homestead Road in Vancleave, authorities found the victim lying on the tailgate of a truck with injuries. The young man claims he walked in on an intruder as he returned home from church and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the victim was able to retrieve his father’s gun and was shot with it.
Sheriff Mike Ezell said, “You know we are actively working hard on the case, but like I said since it happened, the young man has been in surgery, he’s been in the hospital. He’s been under pain medication, so we’re waiting for the right opportunity, which is going to be this afternoon, so we can share some more with the media.”
Anyone with information related to this shooting is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
