Introducing our WXXV Student Athlete of the Week, Harrison Central Basketball’s Saniyah Murray!

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — Saniyah Murray is a force to be reckoned with on the hardwood, and as one of the nation’s top recruits in the Class of 2027, she’s got plenty of eyes on her heading into Harrison Central’s state championship game.

Murray started playing basketball at the age of seven, and nearly a decade later, she’s grown into a future Division I student-athlete and WNBA hopeful. The forward and center currently holds 24 college offers as a junior.

She’s also gearing up for the biggest game of her high school career, as the Red Rebelettes are playing for the Golden Ball on Friday. It marks the first time since the 2021-2022 season that the team has played for the title, and it’s looking for its first win since 2005.
