Inmates May Get Conjugal Visits

A Federal Magistrate Judge will determine whether or not to allow conjugal visits to Mississippi inmates once again.
The judge is looking into making the conjugal visits a protected right for certain inmates.
The practice of conjugal visits for Mississippi inmates has never been adopted by law, but a written policy allowing it was written in the 1980’s. That was until the practice was ended last year by former Department of Corrections Chief, Christopher Epps. At the time, Mississippi was one of only 6 states to allow the visits. The visits were allowed only to married, minimum security inmates who have had no violations in the past 6 months.
