Inmate Work Center in Jackson County Could Close
The Mississippi Department of Corrections is considering shutting down three more of its community work centers due to staff shortages.
Centers in Jackson, Yazoo and Bolivar counties could be closed as early as January of next year. Officials state the agency is having trouble staffing the three state prisons and maintaining an adequate staff for its probation and parole offices.
If the work centers do shut down, employees from those facilities would be transferred to other locations in the system.
