Inkin’ the Coast
Tattoo artists from around the world are ‘Inkin’ the Coast’ this weekend for this year’s festival.
Starting tomorrow you can come out to the convention center in Biloxi and see your favorite TV artists from shows like ‘Ink Master,’ ‘Get a new Tattoo,’ and enjoy some of the many performances on stage from burlesque all the way to contortion.
Event host Dr. Carl Blasphemy says the nearly 200 artist event not only boosts our Gulf Coast economy, but has helped to change the stigma behind tattoos in an empowering way. “It’s not just sailors. Like it used to be bad guys in the movies, or the military, or ladies of the night would get these tattoos. Now it’s in your living room. So, what we have now is more women coming to get tattoos all over the country and it happened here last year. So, we expect to see a greater female presence in here. Some of them do it because of mastectomies, breast cancer, we have permanent cosmetics, eye liner and lip liner.”
The event is open to the public. Kids 12 and under are free to enter. Visit Inkinthecoast.com for more information.
