Ingalls to build more amphibious ships

The Navy continues to order more ships that will be built right here at home in the Flagship City.

Ingalls Shipbuilding announced the awarding of a contract for three new San Antonio class amphibious ships and one America class ship, totaling $9.6 billion.

So far, Ingalls has built 13 of those San Antonio class ships for the Navy and 15 large deck amphibious ships.

Senator Roger Wicker released a statement saying in part, that he’s “glad more Navy ships will be built by Mississippi shipbuilders and that the future of America sea power is built right here on the Mississippi Coast.”
